Born in Bévilard (Jura-bernois) in 1982. Graduating “with honours” from the Conservatoire neuchâtelois (in Jacques Ditisheim, Louis-Alexandre Overney et Maxime Favrod’s classes), from the Conservatoire de Strasbourg "with jury congratulations" (Emmanuel Séjourné’s class) and from the Haute Ecole d'Art de Berne “with honours” (Françoise Rivalland and Pierre Sublet’s classes).
Julien performs in different contemporary, chamber (We Spoke: New Music Company) musical theatre (Mauricio, Dieter, Sylvano et les autres and Klangbox) or orchestral formations: Orchestre Symphonique du Jura, Kammerorchester Basel, Gstaad Festival Orchestra.
He is also responsible for the annual music camp held by the association Coordination Jeune Public and a member of the association. He teaches percussion at the Ecole de Musique du Jura Bernois (EMJB).

First learning to play the violin, he moves on to focus on percussion and piano.
In 2005 he obtains his teaching degree from the Conservatoire neuchâtelois “with honours”. He goes on to pursue his education in Germany at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg im Breisgau where he graduates as a concert artist in 2008 (Bernhard Wulff, Pascal Pons and Taijiro Miyazaki’s classes). During the 2008-2009 season, he is an intern at the symphony orchestra of Basel, Switzerland.
He is actively involved in numerous educational and cultural mediation projects and is a member of the Pumpernickel Company (winner of the Jungen Ohren Preis 2012). He regularly animates workshops and presentations in schools or in festivals. He teaches percussion at La Neuveville for the Ecole de Musique du Jura bernois (EMJB).
He works as a timpanist for the Musique des Lumières and regularly performs with different orchestras and ensembles, such as WeSpoke: New Music Company, Collegium Novum Zurich, Kammerorchesterbasel, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, le Moment Baroque. He has performed in many countries for festivals and concerts.
